Glass draining mat

Description

This is a flat rubber mat with raised ribs and channels, designed to sit under glasses, bottles or a draining rack so that water runs off into the grooves instead of pooling flat on the surface underneath. It's most useful on a bar back or worktop where wet glassware is set down straight after washing, since standing water left under glasses tends to leave marks, encourage mould, and make surfaces slippery. The ribbed surface also keeps a small air gap under whatever is resting on it, which helps glasses and bottles dry faster than sitting flat.

It's a simple item and there's no real upgrade path — one mat does the job whether it's under a single glass rack in a small kitchen or laid out in a row behind a busy bar. Trim it to fit if needed, since the flexible rubber cuts cleanly with scissors or a sharp knife. It won't stop water reaching the surface underneath entirely if you're setting down soaking wet glassware in bulk, but it channels the bulk of it away rather than letting it sit and spread. Wipes clean and can go in a dishwasher if it fits.
