Description

This bar spoon has the usual full-length twisted shaft at 30cm, but instead of a masher, disc or knob, the top end is a small three-pronged trident. It's built for lifting garnish — olives, cherries, cocktail onions, citrus twists — cleanly out of a jar or garnish tray without fingers or a separate fork, and for spearing a garnish before dropping it into a finished drink. The prongs are small and closely spaced, so they hold delicate garnish securely without tearing it.

It's not built to crush or mash anything, so if sugar cubes or muddled fruit are part of your routine, you'll still want a masher-end spoon or a proper muddler alongside it. Whether you need this one depends entirely on how much garnish work you do: if you're building drinks with olives, cherries or citrus twists regularly, the trident earns its place as a second spoon; if you mostly use your fingers or a cocktail pick for garnish already, you won't miss it.

Questions about this product

What's the trident end actually useful for?

Lifting and spearing garnish u2014 olives, cherries, cocktail onions and citrus twists u2014 cleanly out of a jar, garnish tray or ice bath without using your fingers or reaching for a separate cocktail pick. It gives you a bit more control than fingers alone, especially with slippery items like cherries in syrup. It has no crushing or mashing function, so it's a garnish tool rather than a general-purpose bar spoon.

Do I need this in addition to a standard bar spoon?

Only if you handle a fair amount of garnish u2014 olives, cherries, twists u2014 as part of making drinks regularly. It doesn't replace a masher-end spoon for crushing sugar or fruit, and it doesn't stir any differently to our other twisted spoons. If garnish is an occasional afterthought for you rather than a routine step, a standard bar spoon and a small fork or cocktail sticks will cover it just as well.
