Description

This is a scaled-down bar spoon at 20cm, made from the same stainless steel as our full-size spoons, with the same twisted shaft and masher end, just shorter overall. The shorter length gives you more precise control in smaller vessels — a coupette, a small mixing glass, or when you're working directly in a shot glass or a low tumbler — where a 30cm spoon feels unwieldy and puts your hand too far from the glass to judge what you're doing.

It won't reach the bottom of a tall highball, a jug, or a large mixing glass, so it isn't a replacement for a standard bar spoon if that's most of what you make at home. Think of it as a second spoon for smaller-format drinks and precise small-batch work, rather than your only one. The masher end does the same job as on the longer spoon, just scaled to smaller quantities of sugar or fruit, and it's dishwasher safe like the rest of the range.

Questions about this product

Why would I need a shorter bar spoon?

Control in small glassware. A 30cm spoon works fine in a standard mixing glass, but in a coupette, a small tumbler or a shot glass, that length puts your hand awkwardly far away and makes precise stirring or mashing harder than it needs to be. At 20cm this spoon sits closer to the vessel, so small adjustments are easier to judge. It's a specialist size rather than a general replacement u2014 keep a full-length spoon for standard mixing glasses and jugs.

Is this suitable as my only bar spoon?

Only if you mostly make drinks in small glassware. It's too short to comfortably reach the bottom of a tall highball, a jug, or a large mixing glass, where you'd end up dipping your fingers in to stir properly. If most of your drinks are built or stirred in standard mixing glasses or taller serves, buy the 30cm spoon instead and keep this one as a second, specialist spoon for smaller formats and precise small-batch work.
