Description

Plain wooden cocktail sticks, sold a thousand to the box. They do the obvious job of spearing an olive or a cherry for a Martini, but most of the volume in a bar or a catering kitchen goes on food — canapés, buffet plates, cheese and pineapple, anything that needs holding together or picking up without fingers.

Buying in bulk is the sensible move here, because a box of a thousand costs little more than a box of a hundred and you will get through them faster than you expect once there is a buffet involved. They're single-use and biodegradable, which is worth knowing if you're working to a venue's waste policy. If you're after something reusable for cocktails specifically, our stainless steel cocktail picks are longer, sturdier and sit neatly across the rim of a coupe rather than disappearing into it.

Questions about this product

Are wooden cocktail sticks or metal picks better for cocktails?

For a drink you're serving to a guest, metal picks look tidier, don't splinter and can be washed and reused. Wooden sticks are the better buy for volume and for food u2014 canapu00e9s, buffets and anything where a thousand disposable sticks is more practical than washing up metal ones. Most bars keep both: metal picks for cocktail garnish, wooden sticks for everything else.

How many cocktail sticks will I actually get through?

Far more than you'd guess if food is involved. A single buffet or canapu00e9 service for fifty people can go through several hundred, whereas cocktail garnish alone might use a handful a night. That's why they're sold by the thousand rather than the hundred u2014 the bulk pack costs little more and saves reordering. Keep them somewhere dry, since wooden sticks can absorb moisture and discolour in a damp cupboard.
