Description
This is a fixed, counter-mounted cork extractor rather than a handheld corkscrew. The bottle is clamped in place beneath it, and a lever action drives a fine extraction needle through the cork and draws it straight out, without twisting a screw into it. It's built in brass, which is the traditional material for this style of bar-mounted extractor and holds up well to constant use.
It's a trade tool, not really a home one: it needs to be bolted or clamped to a fixed surface, and it earns its place in venues opening enough wine that a fast, low-effort, one-motion extraction is worth the counter space and the fitting. For a restaurant or bar getting through dozens of bottles a service, it's noticeably quicker and less tiring for staff than repeated handheld corkscrew use. For a home bar or anywhere opening the occasional bottle, a lever arch or waiter's corkscrew will do the job without giving up permanent counter space.
